Liberty Life Botswana was established in 2008 and is a specialist life insurance company which focuses on providing group based and individual risk insurance products for death, disability, critical illness and other life changing events. We make a difference in people’s lives by making their financial freedom possible.

As Liberty Life Botswana, we see it as our responsibility to empower our clients; individuals, small businesses and large corporate institutions in offering the best suitable risk benefit solutions for their staff or members.

Our business model is based on creating products that offer our clients financial freedom and peace of mind during unforeseen circumstances as well as forming strong partnerships. We have experience in creating solutions that work for and benefit our existing partners. We work together with them to understand their needs, and the needs of their customers to be able to design appropriate solutions.

Liberty Life Botswana is a subsidiary of Liberty Holdings, founded in 1957 by Sir Donald Gordon with the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to grow their wealth and leave a proud legacy for their family. Liberty has grown into an organisation with assets under management of R566 billion, more than 2,5 million clients and properties that cover 1,1 million square kilometres. With a presence in 15 African countries, Liberty has grown from being a South African life insurer to a Pan-African financial services company, offering asset management, investments, insurance and health products.

Leadership Team

Ms. Lulu Rasebotsa
Ms. Lulu Rasebotsa
Managing Director

Ms. Lulu Rasebotsa holds a BSc Honours in Maths & Statistics from the University of Kent; she also has a COP in Life Insurance and an ICiBS, both from the Insurance Institute of South Africa.

She was appointed as Managing Director for Liberty Life Botswana in June 2011. She has over 18 years of experience in the financial services industry. Her experience has been as both an Underwriter and a Broker. Ms. Rasebotsa has also diversified her experience to Pension Fund Administration, having headed up fund administration services in Botswana and South African markets. As Managing Director, her role is that of broad management, to the extent that she manages staff, the budget, Liberty’s assets and all other resources to make optimal use of them and increase Liberty Life Botswana's profitability so that shareholders can derive value and equally so can the customers.

Mr. Kemmonye Phaladi
Mr. Kemmonye Phaladi
Head of Corporates, Bancassurance & Affinities

Mr Kemmonye Phaladi holds a Bachelor of Commerce with majors in Accounting, Finance & Management from the Australian National University. He also holds COP in both Short Term and Life Insurance plus a ICiBS all from the Insurance Institute of South Africa. Kem, as he is known, is also a Certified Retailer Banker, a qualification earned through the Retail Banking Academy in the UK. He is also currently studying part-time towards MBA with the University of North West, in RSA.

Kem has over 10 years' experience in the Financial Services Industry; having worked for various companies in Botswana. He has multi-disciplinary work experience having been exposed to bancassurance, managing public sector portfolios, client acquisitions, HR and product and business development. Kem joins us as (the new) Head of Corporates, Bancassurance & Affinities. He brings with him a wealth of experience in business development, strategy formulation and execution plus robust relationship management, which will be essential in driving the new business acquisition and profitability agenda for our organization.

Ms. Gorata Kewakae
Ms. Gorata Kewakae
Head of Business Development - Retail

Gorata Kewakae is Head of Business Development - Retail at Liberty Life Botswana. Her role largely includes market development, expansion of retail distribution channels as well as sales and marketing. In her capacity, she drives retail strategy execution, and contributes to product development, stakeholder engagement and delivering customer experience.

Ms Kewakae has a professional career of over 15 years in business development, sales and marketing communications where she has achieved significant growth in organisations she has worked for. Her experience spans different industries such as telecommunications, tertiary education marketing and life insurance before joining Liberty Life Botswana in March 2016.
Ms Kewakae holds a MSc in Organisational Development from Unites States International University-Africa (Nairobi) and Bachelor of Communication from Griffith University (Australia). She also holds a Certificate of Proficiency (COP) in Long Term Insurance from Insurance Institute of Botswana. She Kewakae serves in the Ministry of International Trade and Investment Technical Working Group for Financial Inclusion.

Neo Beryl Ebineng
Head of Finance and Head of Risk & Compliance

Fellow Chartered Company Secretaries (FCIS), HND (Business & Accounting).

Neo is an accomplished Chartered Company Secretary and a Governance specialist and has been involved with a many companies in different industries at a board level as a Board advisor and a Company Secretary for over 18 years, her role being on the emphasis of applying good governance principles and international best practice across industries. Neo is highly accomplished with extensive knowledge and experience in financial services companies including retirement’s funds, Regulatory Bodies and large private and state-owned companies. Her broad experience extends to general compliance, AML and risk management. As Head of Department at Liberty life Botswana, Neo will be responsible for Governance & Corporate Secretarial functions, Compliance, Risk Management, Legal & Contracts Management. Her role entails monitoring of the relevant legislation and the regulatory environment. She will be responsible for ensuring that the company complies with applicable codes and policies in addition to its legal and statutory requirements.

Neo Beryl Ebineng
Mr Thabiso Mosime-a-Kelaotswe
Head of Operations

Mr Thabiso Mosime-a-Kelaotswe holds Master of Science in Strategic Management from the University of Derby and Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Botswana. In addition, he has COP (Retirements Funds) and ICiBS from the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA).

Thabiso has 15 years post graduate experience in the Non-Bank Financial Service Sector mostly in Retirement Fund Administration. His role as Head of Operation entails overall management and oversight of the Operations function of Liberty Life Botswana and the development and drive of the department’s strategy. This includes customer service, data management, claim processes and mitigation of risk and compliance exposure.
